perspective/warp transformation envelope

I agree! This is one feature I've been looking all over for.
I'd like to use inkscape to do scientific illustrations...
and sometimes the ability to make a group and transform it
so that it looks like it goes into the page would be nice. I
don't need full 3d, but just a silly little way to fake it.

Not only perspective, this would allow arbitrary warps and
distortions.

Envelope, Perspective and Whirl are now available from the Effects menu > Modify Path.

Node sculpting is nice, however, it is not work in every situation. It is still very difficult to do, for instance, this: http://www.ndesign-studio.com/resources/tutorials/envelope-distort/

Upcoming 0.47 has an Envelope live path effect. And it has a Lattice LPE too :)

Maybe we should reopen this report? The current tools available in release versions:
- Envelope / Perspective Extension
- Envelope Deformation LPE
do not really allow the requested easy-to-use on-canvas perspective or envelope transformation.
