Can I assume that you don't have a G15 keyboard?
Anyway I'll correct in next (1.9.1.0.svn346-2 or later) version.

No I do not but on previous version, this package worked for my Logitech MX5000, it allowed me to have some shortcuts.

Thanks for looking into this.

what "previous version"?
This is the first version in Ubuntu:
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/g15daemon

libg15 1.2.3 has some problem with non G15 keyboard,
so maybe the update libg15 1.2.2 to 1.2.3 caused you the problem.

The version 1.2.4 (not yet in Ubuntu) corrected some compatibility
problem.

Alright Guys.

ScottK from the #Ubuntu-Motu channel at irc.freenode.net instructed me on how to remove this from your system:

-- open a shell

cd /etc/init.d

sudo gedit g15daemon

insert "exit 0" in the second line

save and quit.

Now you can remove the package:

sudo apt-get remove g15daemon

If you still want to get it working you can compile the latest version from svn.

Is this still a problem with g15daemon 1.9.5.3-3 (found in Intrepid)?

I just checked this morning:
  apt-get install -f
still fails to resolve the problem

same problem on my updated Intrepid Ibex.

apt-get install -f
gives this error:

Some errors occured while processing:
 g15daemon
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

Do you suggest to compile from svn? Is it fully working?

If you want to remove it:
sudo dpkg -P --force-all g15daemon

it worked for me.
But then it's impossible to reinstall.

This was solved in Debian, release 1.9.5.3-5 (using udev to start the deamon, and subsequent fixes for USB shared devices). The solution seems working, although it is not a nice solution. The real solution will requires reimplementing libg15 with a newer libusb API (working in progress).
