Bug Description

Binary package hint: tzdata

OMG, you smashed my stack!!!

On a fresh install of Kubuntu 7.10 i386, installed from the Alternate Install CD. Initial run of Adept Manager to perform Full Upgrade, I get the following messages:

GUI:
"There was an error commiting changes. Possibly there was a problem downloading some packages or the commit would break packages."

The update is able to install normally when using "apt-get update" from the command line. It only fails using Adept.

Version 2007j-0ubuntu0.7.10 was available today and installed from the Adept Updater with no problems.

This still happened with a fresh install of the current kubuntu-7.10-desktop-i386.iso (from ftp5.gwdg.de, md5 ok). After those segfaults adept_updater claimed a new version of kubuntu was available. It then tried to upgrade to 7.10 (silly of course, since it was on 7.10 already), but was hanging and had to be killed.

In my solution a simple apt-get update && apt-get -f install at least managed to fix part of it, a subsequent adept_updater finally worked as expected. After a reboot to make the new kernel feel comfortable everything looks as nice as always :-)
