Bug Description
The mythbuntu installer should install libgl1-mesa-dri so dri is enabled on intel and other hardware. While not strictly required, the opengl menus in mythtv draw extremely slowly if this isn't enabled, requiring the qt menus to be selected. If your backend already has opengl menus in the settings table for your hostname, then on a fresh install of mythbuntu this is immediately unpleasant.

Although this package is approximately 37mb, I do see your point in it.
Additionally, it is installed by all the other *-desktop packages:
$ apt-cache rdepends libgl1-mesa-dri | grep desktop desktop
ubuntustudio-
ubuntu-desktop
kubuntu-desktop
gobuntu-desktop
edubuntu-desktop
