Can't comment on bug report while marking it as a duplicate

Why the package field in particular? How would people know to do that?

The package field is just a possible place to enter the master bug #. I reported this not as an exact solution, but more of a launchpad towards one an even more suitable place would be in the "Assigned to" field. And for users to figure this out, there could be a tool tip or an entry marked "Duplicate" under that section.

So the actual problem is that you can't mark a bug as a duplicate at the same time as commenting on the bug report. Right?

I'd like that too.

It would be a very nice feature to add.

This is fixed now: marking as a duplicate does not require an extra page load, and neither does adding a comment, so you can do them at the same time. (You can even begin one while waiting for Launchpad to finish registering the other.)

Mm, kind of, but on is at the top of the page and the other is at the
bottom. It's not a really smooth flow.
