Bug Description

On Gutsy, when I try to change TV_FORMAT using:

xrandr --output tv --set TV_FORMAT PAL

I get:
X Error of failed request: 186
Major opcode of failed request: 156 (RANDR)
Minor opcode of failed request: 15 ()
Serial number of failed request: 17
Current serial number in output stream: 17

I've got Intel 945 in Lenovo N100.

I forgot to add, that I've try to change any other parameter,
like LEFT or TOP with --set command and I've got the same result.

Thanks for your report. Is the error merely cosmetic, or does it affect operation? Is the TV format actually set?

It turned out that it was my mistake, I was using output 'tv'
instead of 'TV'. However still I can't set a proper TV format.

# xrandr --prop

shows me a quite a lot options:

supported: NTSC-M NTSC-443 NTSC-J PAL-M
           PAL-N PAL 480p@59.94Hz 480p@60Hz
           576p 720p@60Hz 720p@59.94Hz 720p@50Hz
           1080i@50Hz 1080i@60Hz 1080i@59.94H

but I can't set anything beside PAL-M and NTSC-M.
In every other case I get BadValue error.
Due to this, I can't set proper S-VIDEO mode.

What could be wrong?

Maybe the driver does not support all modes yet.

So on what base it prints these modes?

There are the same I got on Windows.

Sounds like it's just missing features; moving to wishlist. Also, maybe this is an xrandr bug rather than an xserver-xorg-video-intel bug, but I'll leave it here for now.

Can you please attach your /var/log/Xorg.0.log and the output of `xrandr --query`?

I tried reproducing this, but it seems to work on my system:

bryce@salisbury:~$ xrandr --output TV --set TV_FORMAT PAL
bryce@salisbury:~$

Would you mind re-testing this on Intrepid to see if it still occurs for you with the -intel 2.3.2 (or newer) driver?
