I can confirm now that it is fixed on 8.10

U9200 and Jaunty here - suspend to ram worked only with POST_VIDEO=false. lshal attached.

The issue that you reported is one that should be reproducible with the live environment of the Desktop CD of the current release - Karmic Koala.
