Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnucash

Gnucash 2.2.3-1 is now available in debian and fixes a lot of bugs. This would be great to sync it before hardy hit stable. Actual Hardy gnucash version is 2.2.1

http://packages.debian.org/sid/gnucash

Saïvann : details, diff and link to the source package is at the end of the bug report.

I synced the debian packages with Hardy's one.
The sync is fairly simple.
Here is a diff between the two debian dirs.
Hope it helps :-)
PS : In control file, I moved the "Recommends" line to minimize the diff with the debian package)

Fred : Thanks for your participation. I believe that you didn't sync the gnucash package, did you? By sync I mean that you took the package from debian and uploaded it to ubuntu repositories.

Saïvann : No, i didn't "sync" the package :-(
I thought that "sync" meant "sync the content of the debian dir betwenn Debian and Ubuntu".
Hence the diff I made.
By the way, I don't think I can upload something into Ubuntu repositories.

Thanks for the confirmation =) I'm not sure if I used the good term, but thank you for the upgrade tag that I forgot to add to this bug report! The only people that has the power to upload to universe ubuntu repositories are the MOTU. We just need to wait for a gnucash packager and a MOTU to take care of this bug.

I wonder, what is the time frame for such a sync? If Ubuntu Hardy updates to 2.2.2, it should either apply the patch http://svn.gnucash.org/trac/changeset/16766?format=diff&new=16766 to fix a serious bug concerning scheduled transactions or use GnuCash 2.2.3 which should be released within 14 days.

According to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/HardyReleaseSchedule , automatic debian sync is over since december 13th but we still can merge/upgrade that package before February 14th ( the FeatureFreeze ). I suggest to do so when the 2.2.3 release will be ready. Once it's ready, I can build the new package based on the ubuntu one and work with MOTUs to get the package uploaded to ubuntu repositories in time.

Just for the record the latest revision of debian gnucash package (2.2.2-2) includes the patch andi5 mentionned.

I would like to ask a merge for gnucash 2.2.3 from debian unstable. I builded the ubuntu package based on the debian one. The new gnucash 2.2.3-1ubuntu1 source package can be downloaded here : http://upload.leservicetechnique.com/bugs/gnucash_2.2.3.tar.gz . I tested this package.

Debian to ubuntu changes :
debian/rules: Added quilt patch system to fix missing icon in desktop file ( bug #148300 ) ( a patch has been provided to the original debian packager to help him fixing this )
debian/control: Added build-depend for quilt, needed for the patch.

Ubuntu to ubuntu changes :
debian/rules: removed ofx support for licence reasons http://bugs.debian.org/460407
  debian/control: build-depends removed libofx-dev

Other changes :
debian/control: Added the word money in the description of the package to fix bug #155059

Saïvann,

Your debian/changelog entry only mentions the description change, but there are some more. You need to mention all of them. Look at the debian-ubuntu diff for that. But make sure we still want them ;)

Emilio Pozuelo Monfort : Thanks for your review, and sorry for the little mistakes. I talked to upstream people and Debian people about the icon issue. This will definitively get fixed with next Debian packages ( without needing to patch src files ).
