Bug Description

Binary package hint: kde4

every login to the kde4 desktop a copy of all my desktop-icons show up. There are no copies in the desktop folder, but there are duoble (and more) entries in .kde4/share/config/plasma-appletsrc.

I can confirm this on kubuntu gutsy, I had not installed anything related to kde4 until the kde4.0 "stable" release

I tried to remove them, clicking in the red cross
the next login there were again 2 icons for each file or folder that i have in my /Desktop folder
The next time i will have 3 copies, and the next i'll have 4...

this makes the desktop very unusable
thanx for your attention

there was an update to kdebase-workspace 4:4.0.0-0ubuntu6~gutsy~ppa1. In gutsy the problem is still there. I think the fix will take some time from hardy to gutsy...

Same here, the bug is still here after kdebase-workspace 4:4.0.0-0ubuntu6~gutsy~ppa1 update (I remove before ~./kde4 directory)

Reopen report.
Everyone who's effected by this issue, please install kdebase-workspace-dbg
* log out
* set the session to login to, to failsafe
* a konsole window will open
* run /usr/lib/kde4/bin/startkde
* watch for any useful output and paste them here, if you can't see anything useful, you can nontheless paste the output so somewhere else can take a look at.

Without any inidcation where the issue accours it's difficult to fix this issue once and for all.

Here is the output from the konsole. Unfortunately after the failsaife login the screen keeps black. After the regular login there are again one more set of desktop-icons. Sorry, I can't determine what's important.

Not only does this occur when logging in, but it seems that changing the wallpaper is enough to produce this bug.
