Bug Description

Binary package hint: kopete-kde4

Kopete presents the following error when trying to connect to Google's GTalk/Jabber server -

"Jabber SSL Error - SSL support could not be initialized for account
<email address hidden>. This is most likely because the CSA TLS plugin is
not installed on your system."

However - qca-tls and libqca2 packages are installed.

WORKAROUND:
Install libqca2-plugin-ossl manually (from the universe repository)

I can confirm this bug. It is not only in kopete, but also konqueror is missing SSL/TLS support. It seems to me that the packages were compiled without openssl support. Is this possible?

I don't know whether this is also related to Konqueror, but Kopete's jabber encription is using the latest SSL plugin for QCA (which is still in beta).

This package is not available in Gutsy, hence we need to backport it, add it to the PPA, and check whether we need to rebuild, because QCA works with plug'n'play.

Also, can someone please check whether this works in Hardy and if not whether libqca2-plugin-ossl is installed?

I just bumped into this bug on kde4 rc1 (hardy), with kopete-kde4 of course.

I also just hit this in 4.1 RC1. Installing the libqca2-plugin-ossl package fixes it, so it looks like it just needs to be made a dependency.

Reopening. libqca2-plugin-ossl needs a main inclusion report, since kopete also moved to main.
