I was trying install the Ubuntu 7.10 with KDE 4 in the VirtualBox 1.5.0 when this bug occurred.

You did not allocate enough space for Ubuntu. You'll need to create a root partition at least 3GB in size.

The fact that the installer did not warn you of this or pop up an error dialog explaining what happened when you ran out of space has since been fixed in Hardy.
