I seem to have had the same crash just by sitting around. Pidgin was open and fine and then it crashed without any real cause (at least not a visible one).

Same problem here. It crashed several times without any visible cause. I use Ubuntu 8.04 x86_64.

Pigdin collapsed at first early after upgrade 7.10 - 8.04 during first cube rotation when system reaches 100% CPU power. (cube rotation eats 100% of my 3,1 GHz P4 with 1 GB RAM). But I really cannot use Pidgin on 8.04 alpha, because it's like Win95 or falling leaves: crash after enter press during chat (many times). Crash when msg is received (probably - it'was many times during chat but there could be 2-10 seconds delay in messages). Could be in conjuction with sound events (sound when message is sent and when message is received).

Has anyone had this problem recently. I haven't had this problem anymore, and if nobody responds I can mark this bug as invalid.

Hello,

seems to be much better after big update yesterday. Maybe stability of
Pidgin depends on other system improvement.

It appears that its not so unstable any more. I agree that it must have been caused by other issues.

My 64bit Hardy Crashed with at least something similar to this. And crashes all the time. I think it crashes when ever I receive a IM from MSN friend.(Might affect others too, haven't ever gotten that far. :)

I opened Pidgin and wanted to write a message. After a few seconds Pidgin closed itself. I have running the 8.04 of Xubuntu with alpha-updates enabled.
