Bug Description

Binary package hint: hal-info

In Ubuntu 8.04, with hal-info 20071212-1ubuntu1, the keymap quirks for the acer extensa 5620 are ignored.

The keymaps are setup correctly within usr/share/hal/fdi/information/10freedesktop/30-keymap-acer.fdi and when i run lshal | grep keymap, i get

info.callouts.add = {'hal-setup-keymap'} (string list)
  info.capabilities = {'input', 'input.keyboard', 'input.keypad', 'input.keys', 'input.keymap', 'button'} (string list)
  input.keymap.data = {'e025:help', 'e026:setup', 'e027:battery', 'e029:switchvideomode', 'e033:euro', 'e034:dollar', 'e053:bluetooth', 'e054:bluetooth', 'e055:wlan', 'e056:wlan', 'e06e:lock', 'e071:f22', 'e072:f23', 'e073:prog2', 'e074:prog1', 'e075:presentation', 'e078:fn', 'e079:sync'} (string list)

which looks correct.

However, pressing any of these extra keys (eg, the euro key), i get the following in dmesg
[ 1141.059327] atkbd.c: Unknown key pressed (translated set 2, code 0xb3 on isa0060/serio0).
[ 1141.059337] atkbd.c: Use 'setkeycodes e033 <keycode>' to make it known.
[ 1141.064634] atkbd.c: Unknown key released (translated set 2, code 0xb3 on isa0060/serio0).
[ 1141.064644] atkbd.c: Use 'setkeycodes e033 <keycode>' to make it known.
and nothing registers in xev when i press the keys.

It looks like everything is setup correctly, but for some reason the information in the keymap quirk file is being ignored.

Hm, if the FDI is correct, this must be a problem in hal itself when evaluating them.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue for you. Can you try with the latest Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance.
