Bug Description

Binary package hint: xorg-driver-fglrx

I have DVI-I-to-HDMI and DVI-I-to-15-pin-D-Shell adapters connecting my Radeon HD 2900 Pro to my Pioneer PDP-5070PU (plasma TV). I have not configured the fglrx drivers to work successfully on other distributions either, but Hardy Heron Alpha-4, after installing the proprietary drivers as prompted, gives me a Screen Resolution dialog with all entries (e.g. adapter, resolution, 2nd display) completely blank. There does not appear to be much in xorg.conf, so I seem to be stuck with the default 800x600.

I tried Mythbuntu 8.04 Beta, installed the proprietary drivers as prompted, and find that my HDMI connection is used (as desired), but that the solid-background screen freezes along with the rest of the system. I was forced to reinstall and avoid the proprietary drivers (not desireable). Perhaps the problem lies with the particular display? Windows XP Pro SP2 likes it just fine. I'd really like to be using the proprietary drivers since the xorg-driver-ati and xorg-driver-radeonhd drivers aren't nearly as capable.
