The failing build of a selftest is likely an issue of the test code making assumptions about the kernel API. But for the backport kernels the API is that of the 4.15 base kernel (as being defined by libc-dev). This should not be a blocker to the kernel.

This bug was fixed in the package linux-gcp-5.4 - 5.4.0-1025.25~18.04.1
