Bug Description

Binary package hint: ttf-telugu-fonts

DISTRIB_ID=Ubuntu
DISTRIB_RELEASE=7.10
DISTRIB_CODENAME=gutsy
DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION="Ubuntu 7.10"

ttf-telugu-fonts 1:0.5.0-0ubuntu1

These fonts are reported in the hint file to be encoded with unicode, yet the actual encoding seems to be something different because the glyphs are in different positions.

I didn't see bug #13756 before, maybe it's the same thing or related.

...and the Lohit fonts, Vemmana2000 and and the Kedage fonts. Sorry for reporting them a few at the time, I think this is all.

The fonts look correct to me. What makes you think their encoding is not Unicode? Please provide more details. Thanks.

I think I may have made a mistake. I saw these fonts looking weird when used to display western text in the fontglide screensaver, and then also in gnome-font-viewer. I checked in fontforge to see the that the encoding was correct and at the time somehow it looked as though the glyphs were in the wrong places. Now when I look at it today they seem to be in the right places, so I honestly don't know what happened last time. Latin script isn't covered, of course, but that's ok and it's the screensavers problem if it tries to use a font that doesn't cover the glyphs it needs. I'm sorry for any extra work this report may have caused.
