hello I was using the latest stable ubuntu and it seemed to be working except for the odd glitches and then when I start to hook it to a link sys router my problems began.
When I select Ubuntu operating system from the boot menu it starts past the first intro page and then as it tries to open the log in page it goes instead to a terminal window and runs a program that always ends in cant open port 3.Maybe a bad cable?
I tired it with out the router cable and without the belkin built in cabling that I 've started to use for my monitor. I've also tired rebooting into different previous versions and it always ends on the same can't open port 3 bad cable.
Two variables were adding belkin cable and attaching to link sys router.
also would resolve to command line and only responds to ctrl alt delete reboot
and doesn't seem to shut down either. Not sure of version or package but all other previous versions and packages give the same results. Im using a AMD semi pron chip and 1.5 gig of ram a boot loader and a gigabyte mother board. I suspect it may be the belkin cable somehow.

Any thoughts?

Hello ...
well the problem might be a usb to connector pin converter by microsoft
that I had to use because of the belkin monitor switcher so I tired it with out the
convertor and the belkin switch and it still seemed to be having trouble
so I pulled all my usb devices out of their ports and only used the mouse
usb and rebooted into recovery mode and it gave me a command line
so I rebooted into the login window and now it works.
It may thus be a bad connection or the usb to pin converter.

anywho
does the belkin switch with built in cables maybe need a updated or different driver?

Im not using it at the moment and will try again.
