Bug Description

Binary package hint: apt

apt-get behind a proxy server times out. When I define a proxy username and password in Network Proxy and then open a new terminal window, I can see the http_proxy env variable defined, but apt-get still times out.

This bug emanates from bug 181999.

Jose,

I'm assuming that you are running apt-get like this:

sudo apt-get update

Can you try with a -E

sudo -E apt-get update

This should preserve the environment when sudo'ing. Perhaps the bug is more appropriate that http_proxy should be saved when sudo'ing?
