Bug Description

Impact
------
This is a new stable release in the GNOME 42 series

https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/nautilus/-/blob/42.2/NEWS

Test Case 1
-----------
Install the update
Ensure that Nautilus still works well

Test Case 2
-----------
Navigate to a folder.
In the path bar. Right click on the parent folder and choose Open in New Window
nautilus should open a new window with crashing.

Test Case 3 Optional
--------------------
Click the ☰ menu and choose Preferences.
Set Performances > Count Number of Files in Folders to "On this computer only" (that is the default)
Connect to a remote server (sshfs, smbfs, Google Drive etc.)
Nautilus should not be showing you the count of items in those folders.

What Could Go Wrong
-------------------
nautilus is the default GUI file browser for Ubuntu Desktop. Other desktop flavors use other file browsers.

As a component of GNOME core, there is a micro-release exception for nautilus

  * Resynchronize with Debian, remaining Ubuntu changes:
    - debian/control.in:
      + Build-Depend on libunity-dev
      + lower gnome-sushi Recommends to a Suggests
    - debian/changelog, debian/rules: set epoch number (which was added by
      error)
    - debian/source_nautilus.py,
      debian/nautilus-data.install:
+ Apport hook to list versions of files in /usr/lib/nautilus and
reassign the crashes when they are not due to nautilus code directly
    - debian/rules:
      + Build Unity support
    - 04_suppress_umount_in_ltsp.patch:
+ Don't list unmount and eject actions on LTSP clients

+ specify a background color for the unity launcher icon
    - 19_unity_open_location_xid.patch:

referenced by their parent nautilus window XID.
    - ubuntu_infobars_color.patch:
+ set infobar type to "other" rather than "question" to avoid blue
        cluebars
    - ubuntu_backspace_behaviour.patch:
+ restore backspace behaviour to go back

nautilus (42.2-1) unstable; urgency=medium

  * New upstream release
  * Bump Standards-Version to 4.6.1
  * Stop disabling the libportal "set as background" feature.

Hello Jeremy, or anyone else affected,

Accepted nautilus into jammy-proposed. The package will build now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/1:42.2-0ubuntu1 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug, mentioning the version of the package you tested, what testing has been performed on the package and change the tag from verification-needed-jammy to verification-done-jammy. If it does not fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-failed-jammy. In either case, without details of your testing we will not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s) fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in -proposed for a minimum of 7 days.
