Bug Description

Impact
-----
This is a new stable release in the 42 series.

https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/epiphany/-/blob/42.4/NEWS

The version currently in 22.04 LTS is 42.1 with the CVE patch cherry-picked.

Test Cases
----------
Install the update

1. Open the Web app. Enter https://ubuntu.com/ in the address bar and ensure it loads successfully.

2. Visit https://www.markshuttleworth.com/
In the address bar, there should be a Reader Mode icon. Click it and ensure that reader mode works normally.

3. From a terminal run
sudo apt install gstreamer1.0-plugins-bad

Visit https://youtube.com/ and ensure that you can play videos.

What Could Go Wrong
-------------------
epiphany is not seeded in any Ubuntu desktop flavor so users are likely to have another web browser available if things were to go wrong and know how to install it.

As a component of GNOME core, there is a micro-release exception for epiphany-browser

Hello Jeremy, or anyone else affected,

Accepted epiphany-browser into jammy-proposed. The package will build now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/epiphany-browser/42.4-0ubuntu1 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug, mentioning the version of the package you tested, what testing has been performed on the package and change the tag from verification-needed-jammy to verification-done-jammy. If it does not fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-failed-jammy. In either case, without details of your testing we will not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s) fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in -proposed for a minimum of 7 days.

I enabled -proposed and updated epiphany-browser to version 42.4-0ubuntu1.

As per test case:

1. www.ubuntu.com loaded correctly
2. Reader mode on markshuttleworth.com worked correctly
3. Installed gstreamer1.0-plugins-bad
4. Played several videos on YouTube - sound and audio ok

I also logged into several sites that I use regularly without problem so passing this update as verified.
