Bug Description

Binary package hint: kdebase-workspace

After upgrading KDE to 4.0.2 in Hardy, the desktop background is all white. When changing some plasma settings, the wallpaper flickers for a second, then goes back to white, so it looks like plasma is trying to draw something else over the wallpaper.

This happens with desktop effects on or off. Graphics are nvidia gf7400.

The same issue here with wallpaper presentation, on gutsy with ati 9600 and latest ati (fglrx) driver.

Same issue here with wallpaper presentation on 7.10 with Intel 945 (Dell latitude D620 laptop) with "intel" driver, KDE 4.0.2

It seems to only happen when the wallpaper changes after log-in, like if you change it or if the slideshow is enabled. I have slideshow enabled and the first wallpaper upon logging in shows up fine. When the slideshow flips to the next wallpaper it flickers on for a second, then goes white.

I can confirm this. Logou, Login again and the wallpaper is changed.

I can confirm the white wallpaper after changing it. I also see it flickering for a glance when selecting another one. (Nvidia GF 7900GS, Destop Effekts on/off)

Already said on the second comment that I have the problem, but I'd like to add that I am also using the slide show, and that the first image appears okay. Upon changing the wallpaper, the screen turns white, and every time the wallpaper changes, I see the new one in a flash.
