Bug Description
This is about version 2.28.4715.
When using ibus-mozc in x11 sessions, the candidate window is empty. I have confirmed the issue with Ubuntu on Xorg, Debian testing (GNOME on Xorg), and Xubuntu. The issue is not present in wayland sessions.
Thanks to Ikuya Awashiro who found the issue!
@Nobuhiro: Is this something you were aware of and are working with? Do you think it's related to the renderer conversion to Gtk3?
We need to fix this somehow before the 22.10 release. As a last resort I'm thinking we may revert to mozc 2.26.

I uploaded a modified version of mozc 2.28.4715. 102+dfsg- 1 in a PPA, where the GTK2 -> GTK3 switch was reversed.

To me it looks like that fixes (or rather works around) the issue. Would be great if others could test and let us know the result here.
