Griffith is checking for xml module since we want it to be python2.3 compatible. I will additionally check if Python version >= 2.4 is installed and disable xml module requirement if so

It would be better to have python-xml as necessary dependencies or at least recommends it ?

No, python-xml will be removed from Debian (and Ubuntu) soon because almost all of its functionality is now in Python standard library.

Thanks. Will it be fixed in Hardy?

I hope so, yes. I've used the "lazy way" for now and asked ScottK for sync. If it will not work, I'll request for sync. in a more official way but first I will need to search in docs if it still needs some kind of exception for Hardy (I released it as new Debian revision to avoid "new upstream"). Fix itself is one liner, so I think it should not be a problem to accept it in Ubuntu.

Sync is requested. It would be a very unusual thing if it didn't get processed before release.

Thanks to all working on this bug. Not having Griffith to help me manage my DVD collection in Hardy is a bigger pain than I realized it would be, even just trying to remember if we've seen something recently.

This bug was fixed in the package griffith - 0.9.6-2

griffith (0.9.6-2) unstable; urgency=low

  * Added patch for Python>=2.4's xml module compatibility (LP: #203161)
