Bug Description

Binary package hint: thoggen

Thoggen currently defaults to encoding into home directory. Hardy Heron (or was it prior) introduced ~/Videos directory in the default setup. It would make more sense to have Thoggen put the encoded files there by default.

Thoggen seems to default to ~/Videos now when you look for the path to save the file. If you leave the name of the file as it is, the directory remains to be ~/

This bug was fixed in the package oggconvert - 0.3.2-1ubuntu1

---------------
oggconvert (0.3.2-1ubuntu1) jaunty; urgency=low

  * Merge from Debian experimental, remaining Ubuntu changes:
    - Suggest gstreamer multiverse plugins.
  * debian/patches/default_location:
    - Ubuntu provides a Videos directory in $HOME folders, place default
      "Save Folder" location there (LP: #209592).

oggconvert (0.3.2-1) experimental; urgency=low

  * New upstream release.
  * Add support for quilt patch system.
  * debian/patches/desktop_file_validation:
    - Validate .desktop file against current Freedesktop standards.
  * Bump Standards-Version to 3.8.0.
  * Add DM-Upload-Allowed field.

Thoggen now does not default to Videos even when clicking to chose a different convert directory from the default (home page). So it actually went further from the desired result.

I don't think this will be fixed in Ubuntu 12.04 LTS and currently thoggen is not in Ubuntu any more.
