Blogger user name is hex code

I tried to make a comment on Blogger using the 2.0 URL:

https://login.launchpad.net/

And that did not work, so I changed to the OpenID login that is on my profile page. That worked, but then blogger uses the hex code at the end for my username.

So, I guess the question becomes, why have that hex code. If it's going to get published everywhere that I put a comment it isn't secure and if it's not for security why can't the URL just be:

http://login.launchpad.net/~ted-gould/+id
