Bug Description

Binary package hint: firebug

It has been reported multiple times that firefox crashes regularly with firebug 1.1.0 , especially when combined with adblock-plus.

Current fix is to upgrade to 1.2.0 b20 ... if we cannot find a cherry-pick we should consider to push that new version to -proposed.

I can confirm this problem. Firefox segfaults for me during startup when firebug is not deactivated (current hardy on amd64)

I tried the firebug 1.2 xpi from upstream and it seems to fix it (firefox doesn't crash at startup anymore and firebug seems to work again too).

Then I wanted to try the Ubuntu package for it but it FTBFS in a pbuilder:

Odd. Looks like there were a couple files missing. Its fixed now - make sure you branch version 23. I've also submitted the build to my PPA.

Hi, with 1.1.0b12 I had a lot of crashes and the browser would spend 11m at a time gray and unresponsive. Removing firebug fixed the prob.

asac let me test the 1.2 file and it is working perfectly. firebug works again and my browser is not far more stable.

rev 22 (firebug 1.2~b21+svn573-0ubuntu1) builds, installs and still seems to work (still no crashing anymore and firebug still works again)
