Problem with GTK2-fullscreen

Bug Description

Some GTK2-apps (especially sylpheed2, compiled from source) show an annoying
behavior: If you make them fullscreen, then close the window and start the app
again, the window is a bit bigger than fullscreen (i.e. reaches beyond the
visible desktop), clicking fullscreen again reduces the window to fullscreen again.
This is somewhat annoying and since this happens *only* with Gnome (not KDE, not
XFCE), it looks like a bug.
Happened with 5.04 (GTK 2.6) as well as with 5.10 (GTK 2.8). Could someone
please look into this?

Could someone please look into this and at least try to reproduce the problem?
According to someone on the sylpheed-ML, this didn't happen with 2.08, thus it
looks like something has changed between 2.08 and 2.10 that is still not fixed
in 2.12.

Thanks for your bug. Do you speak about fullscreen (ie: mask the panels) or
maximized? If that's maximized, that's a duplicate of
