Bug Description

Hello.

I have installed kaffeine and kaffeine-gstreamer. Unfortunately, all movies were
unwatchable: they all played in slow-motion (whereas mplayer and xine were ok).
So I decided to switch kaffeine's backend engine from gstreamer to xine. I
marked kaffeine-xine for installation via synaptic.

1. when I clicked "apply", synaptic did not uninstall kaffeine-gstreamer. I am
not sure this is a bug. However, I uninstalled kaffeine-gstreamer by hand,
checking "mark for complete removal".

2. after the installation of kaffeine-xine was completed, kaffeine refuses to
start. I get a dialog "failed loading gstreamer_part". Kaffeine is still looking
for the gstreamer backend, though it should use xine.

Confirming. I get the stop-motion bug, as well as an inability to unmute
Kaffeine, when using kaffeine-gstreamer. Additionally the first-run wizard runs
every time I start Kaffeine after I tried to install kaffeine-xine.

You don't need to uninstall kaffeine-gstreamer to use kaffeine-xine. I have
both installed, and the settings menu lets me choose between the two in the
first menu item (player engine). I recommend exiting kaffeine immediately after
making this menu change, since any setting changes appear to get lost if
kaffeine crashes (and I've seen it crash a lot when exiting, but not in normal use).

As for the setup-wizzard re-running, there's a work-around in bug #23287.

As Dapper ships no kaffeine-gstreamer support, this bug can be considered as "fix released". Please re-open if... ( i don't know...)

Please reopen:

In feisty kaffeine doesn't let me to choose player engine, which is always mplayer even if kaffeine-xine is installed.
