Bug Description

Binary package hint: easytag

Ubuntu Hardy
Easytag 2.1.4

Choosing "open with ... easytag" in a right click menu in nautilus should open easytag with the selected directory and load the choosen directory content.
----
The bug :

* I right-click on a directory in nautilus.
* I choose "open with another application", then choose "easytag" to open with.
* Easytag is opened but the choosen directory content is not loaded.
* I right-click on the directory in the tree and choose "refresh directory", then it's correctly loaded...

I think the problem appeared in hardy version of easytag (wasn't in gutsy)

easytag still not load the choosen directory when opening it by a right click on a folder in nautilus, then choosing "open with => easytag" in Intrepid

same thing happens when starting from command line; this is in Intrepid, easytag 2.1.4.

it still happens wth 2.1.6; however, following trivial patch fixes this (it's against 2.1.6).
Also notified the easytag maintainer.

Thanks Djcb, I have added your patch, made the package lintian clean and cleaned it up:

easytag (2.1.4-1.1ubuntu1) jaunty; urgency=low

  * Added debian/patches/01-autoload.patch (LP: #230873).
  * debian/control:
    - Break and sort Build-Depends line.
    - Update Standards-Version to 3.8.0 and add Homepage field.
    - Add ${misc:Depends} to Depends.
  * debian/rules:
    - Remove encoding line (only ansi characters used).
    - Add gnome.mk class for Debian menu.
    - Remove not needed DEB_MAKE_INVOKE.
  * Drop debian/easytag.1 and use man page provided by upstream.
  * Switch to debhelper 7.
  * Add debian/patches/02-autoreconf.patch to get rid of
    binary-or-shlib-defines-rpath lintian warning.

Has anyone tested this on Jaunty? I just tried and I don't actually see the bug that this patch is supposed to fix.

This patch contains too many changes to include in Jaunty now, I'm afraid. Let's have a look at it again for Karmic in a couple of weeks.

From a brief glance, it looks as if the patch includes more changes than we really want to apply. We strive to keep our changes over and above Debian to a minimal level so changes such as updating the standards version are not ones we want to make. Please pare the debdiff down to the essentials and submit it to the Debian maintainer, as well as here. This will smooth its entry to one archive or another :)

See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Debian/Bugs?action=show&redirect=Bugs%2FReportingToDebian for more information.

Thanks
