Bug Description

Upgraded from Hoary to Breezy on 2005-10-10, Closing the lid doesn't do anything.

I read: http://bugzilla.ubuntu.com/show_bug.cgi?id=13909

This sounds related, but maybe not. I tried pbbcmd sleep and that didn't do
anything either.

Hmm... Sorry, I should have taken more time with the initial report. The
machine in question is a 1.5GHz G4 12" PowerBook (Feb 2005 model) with an nvidia
display.

I read a similar report yesterday but can't find it now. The person in question
had this problem and then somehow fixed it by trying various versions of
pbbuttonsd. He'd purged etc. I'll link the page if I can find it.

Does sleep work at all on your box? Please try two things:

echo mem | sudo tee /sys/power/state

This is a crude and rough way to put your box into sleep, and it does not work
very well, but it should do something. Does that work?
