Bug Description

Binary package hint: synaptic

When synaptics reports the "failed to fetch" infobox (this happens if you reload the packages list -namely you apt-get update-, and one or more repositories are not available online), it misaligns the text. A pic can explain better. As you can see in the attached file, in the infobox there are very long (unreadable) lines.

Of course, this is a low priority bug. But you ubuntu guys are so precise when "look and feel" is concerned!

Ok. I did not explain properly. IMHO, some lines are necessarily longer then the infobox size (or the infobox size is too small for those lines, maybe). Indeed, if a line contains an URL, it is probably too long to fit in the infobox. On the other hand, some other lines are long but can be splitted in multiple lines. When the "falied to fetch" message appears, long lines with URLs also appear. In this case, also other long-but-splittable lines are not splitted anymore, affecting readability. For instance, the authentication advisory is only partially readable in this case. I attach the pic of a nice-aligned report (no fetching failures), to be compared with the one above.

Thanks for your report.

The "could not download repository index" dialog could be improved a bit and be consistent with the "an error occured" dialog. Marking as triaged/low
