Flashing screens on ooo WP V2.4

Does the version in hardy-proposed 1:2.4.1-1ubuntu1 work any better for you?

 Dear Chris,

I'm sorry I don't understand the question.... I downloaded Open office
through Add/Remove packages in Ubuntu. Whilst I have done long way
around installs in the past, but that was a long time ago and I'm not
sure I'd know how to do it now.

In a few days the new version will go into hardy-updates which will get installed more or less automatically so I will just ask you about it once the update has been pushed out through the normal channels.

Do you still have this problem with openoffice.org 1:2.4.1-1ubuntu2 in Ubuntu 8.04?

 Hi Chris,

No in fact the updates that came along after I'd logged this problem,
plus the fact that I re-installed ubuntu, seemed to fix for a while.
Then Firefox and Flash pluggin played up after that. So sadly decided
I'd had enough re-installing etc that for time being I have given up on
Linux solution for my little EeePC Laptop, as it seems LInux just don't
really like the hardware at presnt, so I've switched to Windows XP, but I
may come back when next version of Ubuntu comes along, by that time the
Wireless connection may work (just could not get that to work no matter
what I did) also Ubuntu doesn't handle the 800 x 400 screen well, mind
you neither did the version of Linux that it was shipped with!).

I don't know if there will be a generic Ubuntu netbook version released but that might be a good one to try out when/if it is released.
