Hang when some module is loaded via hotplug

Bug Description

I installed Kubuntu Breezy RC on a new Shuttle 915G (P4, x550 ATI graphic). The
install went OK. During the first boot the system hangs at "Starting hotplug
subsystem...".

Could not come any further.

Boot in recovery mode to see which module is being loaded at that time, and get

If possible, please upgrade to Dapper's 2.6.15-7 kernel. If you do not want to
upgrade to Dapper, then you can also wait for the Dapper Flight 2 CD's, which
are due out within the next few days.

Let me know if this bug still exists with this kernel.

I'm part way through the install process of x86-64 of 5.10 on a Pentium 4 system (nothing special about it, ABIT IL8 board). I've just finished the part where the CD is required, so it told me to eject it, and I've rebooted. It's hanging up on "Starting hotplug subsystem...". How can I install a new kernel when I haven't even gotten through the install process?

As I said, I'll need someone to test this bug against dapper.
