Bug Description

Binary package hint: thoggen

The GST-Plugin contained within the Thoggen package (in the Hardy repositories 0.7.0-1 version) makes the application non-functional with Region 1 DVDs.

Reproduce this bug by selecting the DVD and tracks, configure the track settings, then, on the Progress Screen, the application will hang silently without error. The screen will remain a blue box, and the All progress bar will remain at zero. I have chatted with the project lead, Tim-Philipp, who says Sebastian Droege (MOTU Team) is working with him to package the fix. I am creating this bug for Launchpad tracking purposes.

Original Sourceforge.net bug can be seen here:

Subscribed motu-sru for ack'ing this for SRU. Please get it fixed in Intrepid soon, too.

For intrepid that's just an autosync from Debian.

That's quite a large diff, is it not possible to get a minimal changes diff?

Not sure what you mean with large diff... the code changes are very small, largest part of the diff is from autoconf/automake generated files and changelogs.

Hi Sebastian,

Can you get rid of the 0.7.1 version strings, because it's a bug fix, not new upstream for hardy....we should avoid those changes, only the parts which are fixing the problem should get included...

But in general: +1 from me

Anyhow....as I see, you are pushing the whole new upstream into hardy...

forget the comments about getting rid of the version string...

Looking at 0.7.1-0ubuntu1 (-proposed), and the problem of the frozen blue-screen is resolved.

I am seeing no obvious issues, after trying different Thoggen configuration settings and different (non-CSS-encrypted only) Region 1 DVDs.
