Bug Description
Binary package hint: usplash
This seems similar to bug 60621, but that one is so old and confused that I can't tell whether it's the same problem or not.
When booting an Intrepid desktop CD on my amd64 laptop with 965GM graphics, I get:
No usable theme found for 640x480
screen init failed
and no usplash, nor boot messages.

* No-change rebuild against current usplash which bumped THEME_VERSION.
