According to upstream this is due to an incompatibility on hal's part.

I cannot view the screenshot, but I expect that it is the same issue as I'm facing. Alsa and pulseaudio work correctly, but sound that goes through phonon does not work. See attached screenshot phonon.png.

What information would be useful?

00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition Audio Controller (rev 02)
phonon2.png shows the phonon configuration.

Confirmed. I get this whenever I log in to KDE. Either it's complaining about HDA Intel or Internal PC Speaker (pcsp) or something like that (seems random which one).

Sound seems to work just fine though.

I'm running a fully updated Intrepid.

Tore.

I can confirm this problem but only when I tried to change first phonon backend from xine to gstreamer. Whith xine it didn't appear.
