Bug Description

Binary package hint: xchat

@Intrepid

Xchat 'forgets' channels which were add in favorites from Channel List.
To reproduce this bug, add few channels to favourites, close the Xchat and run it again.
One workaround is to visit Xchat/Network List... and click on the edit button to see favourite channels. You must do this after adding some channels in favourite list. After that close the app and run it again.

I can confirm this is still happening in Jaunty on x86. This is a very annoying bug as I have to reconnect to many channels every time I restart xchat.

The workaround does work, but you've got to wonder why this hasn't been fixed in nearly a year.

Confirmed in 2.8.6-4ubuntu2, and also on the Windows Version of Xchat, 2.8.7f. It seems that adding a channel to favourites does not write the channel name into the servlist_.conf, as adding it in the Network list does.

There is a fix in upstream CVS. Hopefully we'll see a new upstream release before Lucid.

same here: 2.8.6 xchat/Karmic. favourites does not write the channel name into the servlist_.conf

same here on Lucid, even thought I was lucky to add some channels before this problem locked it.

In lucid, I have been able to work around this by adding channels manually to my ~/.xchat2/servlist_.conf file. Apparently this has been patched upstream ( http://xchat.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/xchat/src/fe-gtk/servlistgui.c?view=log&pathrev=1367 ) hopefully the xchat package will be updated soon.
