I can confirm the problem. I had to revert to version 0.14.7.

Hi Alberto,
how did you revert to xserver-xorg-input-synaptics version 0.14.7? My touchpad scrolls but it doesn't tap to click (left click).
When I run Synaptics, the Package-->Force Version menu entry is greyed out.

Thank you for your help,
Armin

Hi William,
I feel kind of dumb...could you please let me know how I fix it now? Thank you,

I can confirm the patch upstream fixes the issue. It's in their trunk, so I guess it will hit ubuntu in the near future.

Meanwhile I've applied the patch and published it through my PPA: https://launchpad.net/~knorr/+archive

Do NOT set things to Fix Committed unless you have actually committed a fix. You haven't. So don't.

This bug was fixed in the package xfree86-driver-synaptics - 0.15.0+git20080820-1ubuntu4

---------------
xfree86-driver-synaptics (0.15.0+git20080820-1ubuntu4) intrepid; urgency=low

  * Run autoreconf at build time; build-depend on automake, libtool and
    xutils-dev.
  * Enable 102 again, since the problem with it was that Makefile.in was
    not regenerated.
  * Add 103_fix_off_by_one.diff to fix the number of arguments for
    properties. Thanks William Grant!
  * Pull 3d39926875446e from upstream/master:
    - Re-enable TapButtons and CornerButtons to work by default.
