Bug Description

Netinstall of the current 20080910 alternate image of ubuntu fails with the following unmet dependencies error message:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
  landscape-client: Depends: smartpm-core (>= 1.0) but it is not installable
                    Depends: update-motd but it is not installable

This occurs during normal installation as well.

Disk used: "Ubuntu 8.10 "Intrepid Ibex" - Alpha amd64 (20080910)".

I uploaded ubuntu-meta with Steve's seed change to remove landscape-client from desktop, so this is no longer milestone-critical, but it does still need to be fixed before release.

This is related to bug #268722 which adds the new dependencies after the smart package was split.
