Bug Description
Drivers (such as the nvidia/ati accelerated GLX drivers), when loaded using the
Synaptic Package Manager, should indicate that they require a restart to the X
server before working, and,
They Should provide an easy way for the user to do so
be it a link or a button or a popup menu, basically, "In order for this package
to work, we must restart the display system. To do so, click 'ok', or to restart
later, click Cancel."
Restarting the X server to activate the nvidia GLX drivers on the LiveCD was
non-trivial; there was no easy system provided by the install or in any of the
menus, I had to manually kill Xorg.

Thanks for your report. Your idea might get more attention and have
the possibility of being implemented if you would submit a
specification for this.
You should first check whether it already exists at the Ubuntu specs /launchpad. net/distros/ ubuntu/ +specs) in Launchpad. If suggestions. Otherwise you can start writing a spec /wiki.ubuntu. com/FeatureSpec ifications.
