Dynamic clock is now disabled still problem apears.

Alsoe Changed AccelMethod to XAA solved the problem so it looks like EXA is the
problem...

hmm what a mean't in previous post was that if I change too XAA (instead of EXA)
the problem disappeared.
DGA is also activated in my configuration now.

But change DynamicClock "off" does not solve the problem in EXA at all (infact i
tried too disable all options in Section "Device") still the same problem.

I had the same problem. Not loading the "dri" and "glx" module made the problem disappear however.

I also got Ubuntu Dapper (alfa or beta version) system freeze when changed display resolution on computer with ATI Radeon R3xx or RV3xx video card.
It seems bug #29354 and bug #50504 are related to this bug, maybe this bug is duplicate ?

Btw, when using Radeon 9500 and newer cards (R3xx or newer) I always get this message in Xorg.0.log:

(WW) RADEON(0): Enabling DRM support

*** Direct rendering support is highly experimental for Radeon 9500
*** and newer cards. The 3d mesa driver is not provided in this tree.
*** A very experimental (and incomplete) version is available from Mesa CVS.
*** Additional information can be found on http://r300.sourceforge.net

Maybe resolution changing crashes are related to *highly experimental* direct rendering support, which, it seems, is enabled since Ubuntu Dapper ?
