Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-do

Gnome Do doesn't accept any character which requires a combination of keys using the International Layout (former us-intl).
It will not accept any accented character (like à, è), or any special character (like ~, ", ^) which requires two subsequent key strokes (for example on the international keyboard to type ' ñ ' you need to press < ~ > and then < n >. In the same way to type ' " ', you need to press < " > and < SPACE >).

Gnome Do is not just not-displaying those characters: copying the string to clipboard revealed they are missing, just like you never typed them (for example " L'anatra è un uccello " will become " L anatra e un uccello ").

I'm using Intrepid, updated everyday.
My Gnome-Do at this moment is version 0.6.1.0-0ubuntu2

Yes. This is because our text-input (currently) sucks. This (among other text annoyances) is fixed in trunk, and will be in the 0.7 release.

Given Intrepid is releasing in a week or so, that won't make it in Intrepid. Expect to see 0.7 in Jaunty.

I have faith that Intrepid-Backports could give me a chance to see
Gnome-Do 0.7.
