attempting to compile mgeops-psp-3.0.7 source (ups monitoring software from MGE) on intrepid x86_64

Are you defining GTK_DISABLE_DEPRECATED in your build?

I think you are. But anyway, I fixed this in svn trunk of gtkmm upstream, I think. See http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=562893
