Subscribe to a project's bugs

Bug Description

(This bug is based on the problems Ubuntu is having with the Universe-Bugs mailing list telling bug reporters that they cant send mail to Universe-Bugs because they aren't subscribed, which is quite useless behavior)

Users should be able to subscribe to an entire project, getting mail everytime a bug for that project is created, changed, or closed. For example, I could subscribe to Ubuntu, and get Ubuntu bugs; or I could subscribe to just Breezy, and only get ones that pertain to Breezy. Same with a specific Ubuntu package, I could subscribe to that, and only get bugs for that.

This would let people to use and interact with Launchpad easier, and projects wouldn't need outside mailing list software to aggregate bugs.

Additional request: This should also be provided in an atom stream, for those that use rss readers.

BTW, I'm sorry I didn't make this clear, but this applies to all Launchpad services. Like, everytime a translation I'm subscribed to changes, Rosetta should send me mail about it. I don't want something this powerful to only be coded for one service, and not the others.

I think it would be wrong to assume that people who want to know about bugs also want to know about translations, and vice versa. If we're going to implement this, I think it's going to be a matter of coding it separately for each type of thing we're sending notifications about, although this doesn't mean that the UI for different kinds of subscriptions won't be integrated.

Malone already has extensive support for bug notifications, so a bug about subscribing to bugs on distribution/distrorelease/product/package might get fixed quite soon. Rosetta, on the other hand, doesn't have much support for email notifications at the moment so it might take a long time before we have comprehensive subscription support. Hence, I suggest that we file separate bugs for different types of notifications, rather than just using this one bug for all kinds of notification.

I was expecting to be able to subscribe to "ubuntu-website" just like I can subscribe to an individual bug (and also similar to how you can subscribe to a package in packages.qa.debian.org). Turns out I can't.

This is now covered by bug 186615 for projects (e.g. ubuntu-website), bug 186616 for distributions (e.g. Ubuntu), bug 186613 for distribution series (e.g. Breezy), and bug 186607 for distribution packages (e.g. Ubuntu linux). There are also equivalent bug reports for milestones (bug 186611), project series (bug 186612), and project groups (bug 186614).
