Hi Nick,

Did you read the referenced Debian bug report? It explains that
dropping the .la files could break any package that Depends on
jack and uses .la files.

One approach to testing for this would be to just upload the change
and see what breaks, but it is probably better to try and catch
problems before they happen.

Checking the file lists of all packages that depend on jack (recursively)
for .la files would be a good way to narrow down the list of what
packages may be affected. Would you be able to do that?

It was mentioned in the Debian bug that only bio2jack was affected by this change. Is that accurate enough?

Hi,

bug 316354 has the details of the transition that this will require, but
it is perfectly manageable, so I will upload this now, and we can deal
with any fallout from it.
