Bug Description

Binary package hint: kpackagekit

At this point, there is no way to launch software-properties-kde (the repository and software properties editor) from within packagekit (like it was in Adept).

This update includes a patch which relies in kdesu and software-properties-kde and adds a button within the setings dialog to allow users to modify their software properties and repositories.

Fix uploaded, but it looks like you forgot to mention this bug in the changelog. :P (My fault too since I didn't catch it)

Hi,

was it considered to use packagekit's abstraction of software sources? That would have
avoided kdesu. I'm not sure how well that is supported in the apt backend though.

Thanks,

James

Yes.

Modifying kpackagekit at this point to add in 'all' the missing functionality of software-properties-kde was too much to take on. It was definitely more prudent at this point to provide a way for users to launch the existing sources editor, and leave package add/remove to kpackagekit.

The kdesu could be avoided, but would need to use policykit and if someone would like to take a stab at that, it would greatly be appreciated (I am not that familiar with policykit or what would need to happen here to make that work).
