I am a Linux user since '93. I have used Slackware, Debian, Red Hat, Mandrake (Mandriva), Gentoo, and Kubuntu.

I have successfully switched many of my non-techie friends and family to Kubuntu, and now I am also running Kubuntu on the desktop and Ubuntu Server for some firewall and server needs.

I recently was involved in maintaining an overlay for Gentoo regarding special desktop enhancements and effects, some of which Kubuntu has recently integrated. The overlay was called Xeffects, and had many enhancements.

I was a Kubuntu member for approximately 2 years beginning October, 2008 (http://launchpad.net/~kubuntu-members), and have worked on many packages relating to Qt/KDE (http://launchpad.net/~roderick-greening/+related-software).

I was also a member of the Kubuntu Council (http://launchpad.net/~kubuntu-council) for a brief period, and learned a lot packaging for Kubuntu/KDE. A really great team. Feel free to reach out to them if interested in contributing to Kubuntu.
