Bug Description
Hi,
The problem is that when using Japanese input method SCIM you can not add a new vocabulary because the "kasumi" package is not installed by default in non-Japanese Ubuntu editions.
Way to recreate the bug:
1. Start from a non-Japanese Ubuntu edition, like the standard one.
2. Add Japanese language support in System-
3. Log out and back in (you can change the language to Japanese at login to have SCIM automatically working)
4. Open something to write in, switch to SCIM Japanese input (Anthy). You should thave the SCIM toolbar visible in the right bottom corner. Click on the small book and choose "Add vocabulary" (単語を追加). Here is the BUG - nothing happens. Not even a warning that "kasumi" is not installed. That is certainly wrong.
5. Open a terminal and type "sudo apt-get install kasumi" to install the kasumi dictionary. After the install you should
be able to add a new vocab like in step 4.
Its a small bug and I hope it will be soon resolved, because for Japanese new Ubuntu users it just lights up a signal "Hey, this input method does not work. Ill go back to Windows...".
Im using Ubuntu 8.10 standard English edition with Japanese support installed. I have Toshiba Dynabook TX/65D.
Thanks in advance
I agree with you. I'll see if I can push something to Debian which we can sync with in Ubuntu. Essentially, I think scim-anthy should recommend instead of suggest kasumi.
