Bug Description

Binary package hint: notify-osd

This is a feature request/wishlist bug.

In the same fashion that you can minimise pidgin's main window into notify-osd it would be great if you could do the same with evolution.

This would leave the app open but remove it's need to take up screen real estate only opening it when an email arrives. Also the app needs to remain open for notify-osd to work with it.

Current solution is to use AllTray to add evolution to the system tray for the same effect. This would then leave 2 almost identical envelopes in the system tray.

notify-osd does not have any applet anywhere. It is just a notification-daemon. Strictly speaking this bug is invalid. This should be filed as "wishlist" against https://edge.launchpad.net/indicator-applet.

Mirco That's fair enough. However David Barth asked if I would write a wishlist bug for my idea so I did. I didn't actually know that the applet was called something different I assumed it was all tied into together.

No worries Dave, I just try to help out with "gardening" bugs in lp a bit. Besides that, now you know a detail more about notify-osd and the indicator-applet :)

there is no reason why random applications should be sent to the notification area or to an applet, you can reduce the task if you don't want it on screen, closing the bug that's not something that should be discussed there but rather on lists
