Bug Description

At times, the "Caps lock" message is displayed even while caps lock is not on.
To reproduce:
Lock the screen
Turn on caps lock
Type in your password
While it is verifying, turn caps lock off.

Caps lock will say on while it is verifying, but more importantly, it stays on forever until a key is pressed.

unable to duplicate.....

sort of......

since my password is not all in caps the password check fails.

BUT

when i repeated your steps i did notice that the message below the password box "The Caps Lock Key is On" did stay there until you press a key as you described.

BUT

turning off the caps lock key DOES effect the state of the keyboard itself and it DOES in fact go out of caps lock mode, dispite what the message on the screen says. verified this via the caps lock light on my keyboard.

I can confirm the message being there despite capslock has been turned off.

This appears to have been fixed in dapper-updates, judging from the changelog. Oliver, is it still open in edgy? If not, this bug should be closed.

this is fixed at least in edgy. I can't reproduce it anymore.
